BackTilt Studio is an architectural design firm focusing on high performance buildings and innovative construction with regionally sourced materials.  We enjoy working on a variety of projects from utility structures to energy retrofits to new high performance homes.

Founder Daniel Haedrich has a Masters in Architecture from Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, a Bachelors in Environmental Design from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and a B.A. (honors) Geography from Memorial University of Newfoundland.  He is an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects, member of AIAVT and LEED certified.

Back Tilts are simple, traditional Newfoundland shelters. Built to provide shelter from the harsh elements of the North Atlantic, the local terrain and climate dictate their orientation and shape. Back tilts are usually constructed from materials found nearby.
